Background

Growing up in Minnetonka, I started dance at the age of 4 years old. In the words of my mother, she could, "barely keep me in my car seat on the way to class every week, I was so excited." That was the beginning of a childhood full of beautiful, empowering, and fun dance memories. It wasn't until I was in college, dancing on the University of MN-Duluth dance team and teaching dance at a nearby studio, did I realize that dance is not just a passion, but my vocation.

Throughout my 14 year career, I have taught in a variety of programs, schools, and studios. I have cultivated a well rounded understanding of how to safely train dancers, and inspire a love of dance in my students that benefits them in their lives and other activities.

Teaching
philosophy

Dance is an art and a sport! I believe it can benefit everyone, from an 18 month old practicing their gross motor skills and feeling the beat, to an 18 year old executing feats of strength and learning to be a part of a team. There is a process and a beautiful progression of skills and competence in dance training that expands into positive life lessons & character development for children.

From my experience in the classroom, and years of continued teaching education, I have created my own unique curriculum. Dance technique is taught at an appropriately challenging pace and level, while incorporating play, props, & games. Performance skills are cultivated with plentiful in-class performances for peers and families.
